This isn't your regular, every day Mexican place. It's not your run-of-the-mill place like La Fiesta, El Lorito, or La Huerta. The food is fantastic and very beautifully plated, more like you'd see in a nice restaurant as opposed to a family joint. When you sit down, you're brought chips and three types of salsa: standard, chipotle, and spicy tomatillo (I believe that's what it is. It's green). The menu itself is nice and includes the stuff you'd expect (including the best flautas I've ever had) as well as dishes you just won't find anywhere else (habanero cream enchiladas, I'm looking at you). Whatever you order, make sure to get some fresh, homemade tortillas. Did I mention the price is unbelievable? Patron is far and away the best Mexican spot in a city full of good Mexican food.

Delicious! We stopped here for lunch while on a road trip after reading the Yelp reviews. We loved the food! The Molcajete was great and a good portion. The tortilla soup is out of this world and the carne asada tacos were great too. I would recommend this to anyone and if we are ever in the area again, I may stop to get some soup to go!!! :)

Bottom line: food was average/good, service was not so good. With regard to food, my friend ordered the Mexican lasagna and loved it. The three salsas brought with the chips are very good and the green salsa is quite spicy. My chimichanga was average to below average. Maybe it's not one of their specialties, but it was small to begin with, and then no filling--nothing but flattened tortilla--for over an inch at each end. Nothing special about the cheese sauce on it. It came with a generous serving of sour cream but only about half a teaspoon of guacamole. The chimichanga tasted rather bland. With regard to service, everyone in the place seemed unfriendly. No one smiled or greeted us when we came in. This was our first time so we both needed "another minute" to study the menu prior to ordering. "Another minute" turned into two, then five, and finally my friend had to go retrieve the server to take our order. Our server kept asking, "More water?" when we were clearly still eating and our glasses were near empty. Just refill the water and stop asking whether we want more: if we are still eating and the glass is empty, we do. They also refilled our water by picking up our glasses and carrying them to the back, leaving us with no water to drink for that period of time, which was frequently way too long, and while eating spicy food. Either use a pitcher or just bring out a whole new fresh glass of water. Some of this stuff seems minor, and if had been only one issue, I would have overlooked. But all these little things added up to poor service. At this point I'm not sure if I would go back.

If you're looking for something unusual and delicious in Mexican food, this is the place! You may find "Speedy Gonzalez" on the menu, but thank goodness the meld of flavors here will stand out from the standard fare you'll find on typical menus! We have had many lunches here (the tortilla soup is so tasty!), but last night had the opportunity to meet some friends for dinner. My friends ordered custom margaritas (hello, Cilantro and Cucumber!), and my Negra Modela was served icy cold with a frozen mug- perfect! The margaritas were a little small for the money and the second one for one of my friends was about 2/3 the size of the first. The assistant manager argued with her about the portion, but she ended up sending another one to the table, so it ended well. Two of the standouts here are the house-made tortillas (corn and flour), and the 3 different salsas served are authentic and home made as well! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu- try something a little different and you'll be glad you did. The flavors are fantastic and the presentation is unique as well on most dishes! Another bonus: the servers are friendly and eager to please.

One of the better Mexican restaurants in Fort Smith. Their menu is more unique and upscale than most general Mexican restaurants in Fort Smith that all seem to have the same menu items with slightly different names. I've never had unfriendly or slow service here. I highly recommend the Chicken Habanero Cream Enchiladas or the Molcajete. :)

A good option for lunch! The menu was extensive. All in all, it was just another Mexican restaurant that differed very little from the sea of other Mexican restaurants. Nothing at my table of 8 seemed to set itself apart from another restaurant like this. I did enjoy the food and ate every last bite, but wasn't wowed by anything like I have been at a few other Mexican restaurants. The service was top notch. This is a good place to bring an office party for lunch.

I'm not sure how this place ranked 4.5 stars. I had fajitas Jalisco. It was just average. Wife had cilantro chicken. It was good but very spicy. It was a small chicken Breast and came with about 6 slices of potatoes. It was $10 for the lunch plate. Kids ordered from the kids menu. My son had a hair in his plate. A long black one. He's blonde. It was $45 for our lunch. Tip not included. The waitress did a good job and was attentive. There wasn't any silverware on the table. We had to ask for it after our entrees arrived. We asked for small queso bowls and they had pieces of dried salsa from the last customers. We sent those back and asked for 3 more. They too were dirty. The whole place could use some cleaning. I won't be going back.

Great food if you are looking for not-so-standard Mexican food. If you are traveling with picky eaters, however.... Good luck!:)

When I come home to Fort Smith, I expect to have Mexican food. Mexican restaurants here are their own animal- certain menu choices which I haven't seen in Texas, Oklahoma, or New Mexico seem to be expected here. So today I expected a typical Fort Smith Mexican experience. When my mom suggested Patron, I expected it was the newest thing, but probably on par with some of the regular places. On entering, we found the colorful, painted furniture typical of such establishments as well as the usual working lunch crowd. However, I immediately noticed two unique traits: a chic framed painting in the entryway and a diligent tortilla crafter churning out discs of hot, fresh corn and flour tortillas. The service was swift and cheerful, and the food was delicious. Three complimentary salsas: mild tomato, mild charred tomato, and sweet hot canica, were delivered with the chips. First clue that Patron is serious about food. The salsas were so good. The canica salsa was the most mesmerizing, as it was creamy and sweet after roasting. Delicious. I ordered a margarita to start, which was perfectly balanced and tart. My kids had the beef nachos, which looked a little disappointing when it was delivered to the table, but I leaned in for a bite and couldn't believe how tasty they were (really!). The meat was deliciously seasoned and very tender, and the cheeses were a perfect blend- a trifecta of queso fresco, cheddar, and Monterey. I think. Anyway, yum. My mom and I split the barbacoa tacos, and the brisket was soft and tender and tasty. The tacos came in aforementioned freshly made soft corn tortillas, and were served with pico de gallo, rice, and beans. I can usually take or leave rice, but not this stuff- I had to make an effort to stop eating it, it was so good. The beans lacked a little seasoning, though I suspect a hit of salt would do the trick. Patron is a slam dunk. I haven't enjoyed Mexican food like this in a long time. Can't wait to come back!

I want to start out with this disclaimer: this is among the best Mexican food I think you can find in Fort Smith, but I acknowledge (for you purists out there) that not every dish is authentic Mexican food. We frequently go to Patron's for one simple reason: the food is quite good. The three salsas that they are offer make them stand-out from the average Mexican restaurant. One is salsa, one is salsa with roasted vegetables, and one is salsa with poblano peppers pureed in it (it has quite the kick). I'm a fan of the Mexican lasagna and the chicken enchiladas with the poblano cream sauce. The loaded nachos is also a good choice. My partner is a fan of their fajitas. The table-side guacamole is quite good. Their tres leches cake is homemade and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven when you try it. The only item on the menu I'd suggest you avoid is the cheese dip - it's a bit too runny or watery for my liking. I am giving the food a 5-star review, but the restaurant itself would probably merit a 3. The service is inconsistent, usually mediocre. The wait staff is disorganized and you'll sometimes be left waiting to be seated. The temperature at the restaurant is usually uncomfortably warm. And the quality of the salsas they serve can be inconsistent, depending on the time of day you eat there. We have been at lunch before where the salsas seemed to be recycled from the night before. Despite the aforementioned drawbacks, this is still our favorite Mexican place in town and definitely one of the places we take people visiting the area to.

I LOVE Mexican food and being from South Texas, I'm used to excellent and authentic Mexican food but I was surprised and shocked when this stuff was just as good as the food I'm used to down South. My husband and I both ordered the "Patron Burrito" which the lady over the phone said was "huge". Mine was filled with beef fajita meat and my husband wanted ground beef. They were covered in a delicious cheese sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. Although they were delicious, they were not "huge". They were about the size of a Taco Bell burrito. We also decided to share an order of the "carne asada tacos" which were also excellent. They sent us with a tray full of beef fajita meat, cilantro, fresh onions and corn tortillas. It was all DIY style. My only complaint was the the lady on the phone was kinda rude and made me feel like I was bothering her by placing a "to go" order. She also told me that they couldn't add beef to a Chile Rellenos. I've never been told that before so it came as a shock. Anyway, I'll be back and I recommend.

I am from San Antonio and this is at the VERY top of my list of Mexican restaurants! I absolutely could not believe how good the food is...amazing! We kept ordering things from the menu just to see how good they were. I would give it ten stars if I could. So great right here in Ft. Smith Arkansas! Who would have ever thought it

I really like this place!! We both enjoyed what we ordered. The tortilla chips are made in house and brought with THREE salsas. The Mexican lasagna was a little bland, but still good. The molajete(?) That hubby got was AMAZING. We shared a slice of tres leches cake for desert. It was DELICIOUS, and rivaled the homemade one a friend's Mexican mother made. The service was excellent. Our waiter was prompt and friendly and even with a heavy accent, spoke excellent English. The atmosphere was good, and the music is good contemporary Spanish pop music instead of canned mariachi. I would definitely say they're going to last awhile!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
